It is increasingly rare to find heartwarming romantic comedies on big screens. As a rule, the user is offered an action-packed, special-effects action or fantasy film category. But sometimes you just want to watch a beautiful love story filled with earthy moments and juicy jokes.

Of course, sometimes there are decent comedies filled with romance in cinemas too. But you want to see a beautiful movie today. So we made for you a selection of the most exciting comedies for viewing in the evening with the co-part or even alone. This selection includes some of the coolest rom coms of the 20th century.

Marry Me – 2022

Let’s start this list with a novelty that has only recently hit the big screens. This romantic comedy tells the touching story of the famous singer Kat Valdez, played by the gorgeous Jennifer Lopez, and maths teacher Charlie Gilbert (played by Owen Wilson).

Because of the blatant infidelity of her famous fiancé Bastian, the girl faces a difficult choice: to marry the man who betrayed her with a personal assistant or run away from her own wedding, watched by over 20 million people. And everyone found out, because someone leaked the cheating video live on air. Just when Kat was due to sing her wedding duet song “Marry Me”.

She appears on stage in a gorgeous dress and makes a sudden decision to marry the first man she meets out of the audience. At that moment, she meets an ordinary guy who happens to be at the concert with his colleague and daughter. It was they who handed him a poster with the title of the long-awaited hit, which caught Kat’s attention and she told him YES live!

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days – 2003

A delightful comedy starring Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson. The title role is played by Andy Anderson, a blonde and charming journalist for Compose, the world’s most fashionable women’s magazine. At the next planner, she is assigned to write an article about the main female mistakes in relationships with men that lead to breakups. And for the juiciness of the story – all these mistakes she pulls off with a real guy!

And it just so happens that she meets advertising agent Benjamin Barry in a bar. Who also has his own agenda and agenda tied specifically to Andy. And because of this he firmly tolerates all her whims and whims, which by the way does not slightly surprise the girl.

The comedy is suitable for a wonderful fun evening, with a touch of romance and a lot of curiosities.

Pretty Woman – 1990

This list would not be possible without an iconic love story like the movie Pretty Woman. Prostitute Vivian Ward meets rich man Edward Lewis. In fact, she has no idea yet that she has a chance at a new life in front of her. Suddenly, they realise that they are happy with each other’s company and there is no desire to separate.

But of course it is not that simple, for they are from different worlds. A way of redefining life values awaits each of them. And though the film was originally meant to be a serious drama, director Garry Marshall insisted that it should be a comedy. Consequently, the script was rewritten according to his adjustments. And the result is a truly legendary film!

The Proposal – 2009

She is the stern editor-in-chief of one of the biggest publications in New York. He is not just her subordinate, but a secretary with ambitions to become editor. Margaret Tate is hated and feared by everyone in the office for her overbearing character and ruthless bitchiness. But she overstays her visa and is deported. So the idea arises to marry her secretary to avoid deportation and keep her job as editor-in-chief.

That’s how the whole story spins, which will be filled with funny and even racy moments. The main action takes place in the luxury villa of Andrew Paxton’s parents in Alaska, where they have come for a weekend and his grandmother’s birthday party. Fooling around and pretending to be a couple in love, they don’t notice how they open up to each other and fall in love for real.

The Ugly Truth – 2009

A terrific film with great actors starring Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler. Katherine Heigl, in her customary role as an exemplary, rigorous student dreaming of a fairy-tale love story. The main character’s name is Abby Richter and she is a producer of a morning TV programme. 

She is assigned Mike Chadway, a TV presenter and a real alpha male, as her partner. He hosts a provocative TV show about male-female relationships, seasoned with a sauce of obscene jokes and chauvinism.

Being forced to work together, they have to communicate a lot. And it seems to work to their advantage: Mike helps Abby to keep the men’s attention and build a relationship, while Abby helps him to remember there’s more to life than just sex.
